NHS Wayfinding
___
Create a new system and design elements to make the NHS Lauriston building more accessible and easy for patients to navigate.
For this project we had to create a new way finding system and elements that would ease future and current patients visiting the Lauriston hospital building. Currently the building is cold, confusing and there is a lot of empty space.
After researching, I discovered many medical articles discussing how natural forms are calming and how the textures can ease people. We decided to use this to go ahead and create a more welcoming space which featured a light display of flowing waves and a pattern that could be put on the building inspired by wood texture. A letter with a map and information would be created for patients to receive prior to their appointment and then signs with both visual and text maps would be present so patients can easily navigate the building.
